Van Amersfoort Racing is seeking a highly motivated #2 Race Mechanic to strengthen our Formula 4 team. The position is an internship position.

Job Description

As a #2 Race Mechanic at Van Amersfoort Racing, you will play an essential role in supporting the F4 race team. Assisting the #1 Race Mechanic in maintaining and preparing the race car for optimal performance. Working in a fast-paced and high-performance environment, the #2 Race Mechanic contributes to the car's reliability, safety, and competitiveness during races, testing, and practice sessions. 

The role of #2 Race Mechanic is a junior position with a lot of room for personal development and gaining knowledge and experience within single seater cars. You will be working both in the workshop in Zeewolde and on track. Due to race events, weekend work will be required.

Main responsibilities

  • Assist in the assembly, disassembly, and maintenance of the assigned race car, including suspension, brakes, and drivetrain systems
  • Ensure components are installed, functioning correctly, and torqued according to team and manufacturer specifications
  • Support quick repairs, part replacements, and adjustments during race weekends, including in high-pressure scenarios such as pit stops or red-flag situations
  • Prepare tools and equipment for each session, ensuring the team is ready for any mechanical tasks that arise
  • Ensure refuelling has been done according to the Engineer’s calculations
  • Assist with car setup changes as directed by the #1 Mechanic and Engineers
  • Work closely with the #1 Mechanic, engineers, and other team members to execute maintenance plans and resolve technical issues
  • Assist in the preparation and maintenance of the race car and spare parts at the team's base
  • Ensure at all time that tools, equipment, and workstations are clean, organized, and ready for use
  • Participate in the packing and unpacking of team equipment during travel to events
  • Adhere to all FIA safety regulations, technical specifications and team safety protocols
  • Responsible for tyre management and respecting supplier rules and parc fermé times
  • Follow inventory management protocols to ensure spare parts and consumables are adequately stocked

What are we looking for

  • Automotive or technical education
  • You are full-time available untill at least the end of 2025
  • Technical understanding of car mechanics, aerodynamics and electronics
  • You show a willingness to learn and open to new techniques and processes
  • You speak English and can communicate well within a team
  • Flexible attitude regarding workdays and hours to accommodate the demands of the racing schedule
